Our 31 villages are full of local flavours! To go and meet them is to be seduced by Walloon gastronomy. It's about tasting the regional products that each area offers. It means taking the time to immerse yourself in unique places where an authentic and friendly atmosphere reigns, in search of small "home-made" dishes offered by passionate craftsmen.

Hennuyer silt plateau

On the Aubechies square is the Taverne Saint-Géry, its authentic and vintage decoration and warm atmosphere will certainly please your eyes and taste buds. In the vicinity of the village, don’t miss a visit to the Brasserie Dupont or the creaminess of the cheeses from Jacquy Cange, cheese maker.

In Montignies-sur-Roc, you can visit the Brasserie de l’Abbaye des Rocs, which produces and exports popular beers, or the Pype-Lievens farm and its range of farm products. In the Vél-Honnelles boutique, you will find local and artisanal products. And if you can no longer resist the call of all these flavours, picnic tables are at your disposal for a warm and friendly moment!

Since 1946, the Biercée Distillery, located in the beautiful village of Ragnies, has been distilling the unmissable “Eau de Villée”, “Noir d’Ivoir” and “Poire Williams n°1” in the purest of traditions. Absolutely not to be missed! Round off the tasting experience in the on-site brasserie or at the tasty La Part des Anges restaurant, which serves seasonal menus made from fresh, organic and locally grown produce. The Ferme de l’Escafène and its artisanal butcher’s shop offer a wide range of organically produced meats.

Hesbaye

In Melin, come and discover “Bisous Bisous de Mélin”, a pleasantly decorated cultural and rural bistro, where the people of Melin and visitors can meet, chat, and have a drink and a bite to eat together in a friendly atmosphere! In terms of gastronomy, the locality offers an exceptional place, La Villa du Hautsart, where the master chef will delight gourmets.

Condroz

Besides its excellent butcher’s shop and gourmet bakery, Celles is home to several restaurants sure to delight your taste buds and introduce you to regional gastronomy, such as the “Chausson de Celles” or the Saint-Hadelin beer. There are so many flavours, conviviality and traditions at the Compagnie de la Terre de Celles !

Chardeneux is the only place in Wallonia where the famous “Blueberries” are grown. There are more than 5000 plants! If the weather is good, you can also participate in the annual harvesting between 15 August and 15 October. The blueberries need to be earned, and you will have to roll up your sleeves! Nearby, the Bebette butcher’s shop and the Gros Chêne cheese factory offer you their quality local products.

The village of Falaën is not to be outdone! Every year, the Li Crochon brotherhood invites you to its gourmet walk: a seven-kilometre stroll dotted with culinary stops punctuated by musical atmospheres as you discover the village. The gastronomic restaurant La Fermette is located in the vicinity and offers refined and sophisticated cuisine. Nearby, along the railway tracks that have been transformed into a RAVeL, an old station houses the restaurant l’Artiste, where the chef will prepare exceptional meats for you. At the Chertin cheese farm, the processing of cow’s milk takes on its full meaning, and cheese lovers will be able to taste a variety of cheeses!

For more cheese shopping, visit the Fromagerie du Samson, located near Mozet! A wide range of cheeses is displayed, made with produce from six local farms. Several products have won medals at the Mondial du Fromage… During your trip to the Samson valley, don’t hesitate to stop at the Petit Pont tavern restaurant to enjoy a beer on the terrace or have a tasty meal.

In the Molignée valley, in Sosoye, discover the dishes at the quintessential restaurant Les Montagnards located in the former school building. You will also find local products on sale. Close by, the Maredsous abbey offers bread, cheese, beer, apple juice and jam for tasting! Also nearby, “Vachement Ferme”, where you can enjoy a selection of local food and farm products from a family farm that has been in existence for over 40 years! At l’Escargotière de Warnant, located in the beautiful Molignée valley, you will find the petit-gris snails that have been honoured for over 25 years!

Pays de Herve

Nearby the village of Clermont-sur-Berwinne, don’t miss the opportunity to discover or rediscover Herve cheese, one of the region’s best-known products and the only Belgian cheese with a PDO. To accompany it, there is nothing like a visit to the Siroperie Artisanale d’Aubel, which, for five generations, has been producing the traditional pear and apple syrup following the ancestral recipe of the region’s farms. In the old railway station of Herve, only a few kilometres away, l’Espace des Saveurs et Découvertes will take you on a virtual sensory stroll through the heart of the villages to discover the products of the Herve region. Finally, soak up the Cistercian atmosphere of the Val-Dieu Abbey. Founded in 1216, you can enjoy beers that have “stood the test of time”!

Are you looking for a place with character for a gourmet break in the village of Limbourg? In the heart of the historic core of the village, the Brasserie Saint-Georges, accredited Bistrot de Terroir®, offers a wide range of delicious regional dishes, accompanied by one of the 100 special beers on the restaurant’s menu!

During your visit to Olne, you cannot miss lèv’gos : this regional speciality is a sweet pudding stuffed with currants with an original and surprising taste, but guaranteed to be good! A tradition carried on since 1979 by the brotherhood of the Lèv’gos, you will find them in the regional markets or the butcher’s shops in the area. The “Ferme dans l’assiette” will offer you parcels of beef, vegetables, fruit, dairy products and other local and/or organic products.

The village of Soiron has a small grocery shop where everything is local, from one corner to the next ! You will find special beers, apple juices, regional cheeses, smoked sausages, honey, and jams, … Take a break for a while at the Taverne de Soiron or at the Vieux Soiron restaurant to taste quality products in 18th century stone buildings, or simply by delighting your taste buds at the “Les Amis du bon Bourgogne ” wine shop. The Pâtisserie Theunissen offers a wide range of breads, pastries and currant loaves, each as delicious as the next. The pear flan tart is delicious!

Fagne-Famenne

In Barbençon, the terrace of l’Auberge du Lac is an ideal place to rest by the water and enjoy simple, local cuisine in a friendly atmosphere.

In the village of Lompret is a gourmet destination that has been known and frequented for a long time … The restaurant L’Eau Blanche is located on the river bank. As you travel along the riverside, you can try a local speciality: escavèche, a fish dish preserved in vinegar sauce.

Don’t miss the farm products of the Henry Lathuraz Farm located at the exit of the small village of Soulme.

In Wéris, establishments such as Les Lanternes (“Bistrot de Terroir”®) or La Pierre Levée will offer you creative regional cuisine, served in a friendly atmosphere. A gourmet stopover that is topped off by a starred restaurant, Le Cor de chasse, where you can discover modern gastronomic cuisine in keeping with the seasons, all in an environment that combines rusticity and elegance.

In Gros-Fays, near the undulating panoramas of the Semois valley, you will be immersed in the village atmosphere of a former café named after its first owner, the Café Lallemand. Not far from there, in Bièvre, don’t forget to visit “Saveurs de Fruits“, a small family business that produces fruit wines, jam flowers, jellies and other local products.

In the Ardennes, the Our village is definitely a quality gastronomic stop. You can choose the two-starred restaurant La Table de Maxime, which will offer you delicious tasting moments, or the Terrasses de l’Our, where you can enjoy a mixture of brasserie and bistro cuisine on the river bank!

Lorraine

The village of Chassepierre offers you several restaurant possibilities. “La vieille ferme” is an old stable converted into a restaurant where you can enjoy dishes inspired by the local cuisine of the Gaumais and Ardennes region. At the “Relais de Chassepierre“, you can enjoy a local beer or taste an authentic cuisine prepared with heart and passion… Don’t forget the “Chocolats d’Edouard” (in Florenville) to be savoured delicately to take full advantage of all their flavours!

In the village of Nobressart, you will stop at a village grocery shop just like our grandparents knew. On the shelves of “Epices & Tout”, you will find everything you need to cook delicious local dishes, including a few specialities: Gaumais sausages, cheeses, wines, quiche lorraine, duck breast… Enough to make your mouth water! Nearby, come and taste delicious honey, farm chickens, guinea fowl and dairy products directly from the producer. And let’s not forget the Metzert Brewery in Metzert, where you can taste a range of beers with unique and original flavours.

With its air of Provence, its privileged microclimate and its gently undulating terrain, the village of Torgny has three vineyards: “Le Poirier du Loup“, “Les Fouchères” and “L’épinette“. A guaranteed wine discovery! In the heart of the village, the brasserie-restaurant La Romanette welcomes you with a terrace next to the old washhouse.
