Chassepierre is also the name of the small stream in the centre of the village, which was vaulted in the 19th century. In the past, the water from the Chassepierre provided the driving force for the mills and fed the wash houses located along the slopes of the village.

Thus, an old mill was established between the presbytery and the church. Unfortunately demolished in 1980, it nevertheless allowed the discovery of the remains of a much older occupation of the site and its geological origin, nicely named the “Fairy hole”: a network of galleries dug by men in the limestone rock (cron) which extends to reach the cellars of the presbytery and forms a mysterious network, attributed, perhaps, to the place of residence of magical beings…
