The must-sees

  • The bridges (18th & 19th c.): Crossing the Oûr in the centre and north of the village are shale sandstone bridges consisting of three arches
  • Small day labourer’s house: A small regional-style residence to house a day labourer or manual worker
  • Fenced farm : Regional style farmhouse in a courtyard
  • Multicellular farm: Long farmhouse in regional style, facing the old bridge
  • Ancient views of village life: Boards installed in the village with photos of life in the past
  • The rapids of Our: Picturesque site of great biological interest “Natura 2000”
  • Castle of the Abbeys: Former feudal castle with two towers and a tower-porch dating from 1777 – Private estate (outside the village – 1 km)

A preserved structure and nature

To the north of the hamlet, a magnificent half-moon stone bridge spans the Our, a small tributary of the Lesse, and leads you into the valley and the centre of the village. There, about fifty old houses and farmhouses lead a quiet life. Mostly built in sandstone, these low houses reflect the typical Ardennes construction: a multicellular farm, a fenced farm, a small day labourer’s house… Dominating the village, the Saint-Laurent church has been listed as a monument since 1983.

The river Our has shaped a small rocky course between the village and the mill. There, a chaotic load of rocks impedes the course of the river. Slowly, its clear waters seep through the smooth stones, swirl in the dark gulfs, and form innumerable small waterfalls. On the steep hillsides surrounding the village, the forest dominates and offers cycling and walking enthusiasts the opportunity to discover a breathtakingly rich environment and landscape. Back to the village where the walks often end around a restaurant table because Our is also a quality gastronomic stopover with great names of starred chefs.
