Between the light and dark grey tones, the limestone houses of Ny respond to the many fountains present. The water sings and lulls the streets with a gentle melody.
Just above the water, beyond the small streams of the Naive and the Douyet, Ny has taken up residence. This small village between the Fagne-Famenne and the Ardenne is entirely enveloped in the grey colours of its traditional houses and its long limestone farmhouses. Sometimes hidden here and there in the narrow streets are half-timbered gables and traditional bricks. Built in the second half of the 17th century, a listed castle farm stands in the village’s background. Together with the neo-Gothic church dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption, they both mark the historical centre of the village with an undeniable monumental imprint by their history and architecture.
Everywhere, generous fountains and watering places, typically dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, jingle and jabber with each other, bringing an enchanting air to the place. In this village of “water”, it is not surprising to find a mill. It still has a beautiful wheel whose origin dates back to the 19th century. The surrounding small valleys and flowering fields add a gentle atmosphere to the village, where there can be many hours of peace and quiet. A visit to the nearby Hotton Grottos will complete this pleasant stroll.

Ny owes its beauty to the subtle combination of stone and water.
Nestled in the heart of a wide valley with wooded ridges and two streams, the village subtly blends stone and water.
The association Les Plus Beaux Villages de Wallonie (The Most Beautiful Villages of Wallonia) oversees a network of 32 villages, bearers of a strong territorial identity and reflecting traditional architecture. It is committed to promoting the rural, cultural and natural heritage of Wallonia and is a part of the development of local and responsible tourism.
