Blue, red, mauve and yellow flash across the façades of the houses in the main street. In Sohier, flowers are as important as the castle and the richness of the stone houses.
Once upon a time, a village stood on a single street, where the houses all looked the same, all dressed in grey and were decked out in bright colours as soon as spring came. A little further away, hidden under the rich foliage of a remarkable park, a castle stood on guard. In fact, this lovely tale is a beautiful reality: welcome to Sohier, in the province of Luxembourg, between Famenne and the Ardennes. Between the wealthy farms and the modest houses, the main street is full of a thousand and one heritage treasures of the Famenne habitat: in addition to the imposing castle, the church dedicated to Saint-Lambert, the old school and the former presbytery are worth mentioning.
The surrounding landscape offers very open and varied views of the green surroundings. A 2 km interpretive tour will help you discover the village and its treasures with the help of educational boards. After enjoying the sights, try the tastes at the Atelier des Sens or the Truite d’Argent, two renowned establishments in the region. The village likes to showcase local products and crafts: a special beer weekend in February and a craftsmen’s market during the summer months.
