Passerelle du Breux Chassepierre
On the ruins of the old tramway bridge that disappeared during the Second World War
On the ruins of the old tramway bridge that disappeared during the Second World War
Rebuilt in 2013 on the ruins of the old tramway bridge, which was bombed at the end of the Second World War, the Breux footbridge links the two lower entrances to the village on the Semois side. It creates a new ‘RAVeL’ lane and plays an essential role in the circulation of people during the famous international street arts festival.
Preserving the rural and protected character of the site, the materials reinterpret the original ones. Thus, the remaining stone elements have been restored and stabilised, leaving a heritage and historical testimony. The structure is, as in the past, in steel, but the shape, height and load-bearing system have been adapted to current technologies and requirements.
