A deep valley and a "White Water" which owes its name to the clear, "white" aspect of this water which flows along a meander dug in a limestone subsoil.
Forming this deep valley and the meander in which the heart of the village of Lompret lies, the ‘Eau Blanche’ owes its name to the limestone subsoil in which it has dug its bed and which gives the water its clear, “white” appearance.
The ‘Eau Blanche’ valley is home to a wide variety of environments: the Virelles pond, with its marshy alder grove and one of the largest reedbeds in Wallonia; hay meadows and limestone lawns; forest environments typical of the Fagnarde depression; and, finally, steep limestone slopes along the ‘Eau Blanche’.
