Old mill of Vaulx

Protected by its imposing roof and tucked away at the bottom of the valley, the Vaulx mill took advantage of the convergence of the natural elements.
Protected by a cloak of greenery, the Vaulx mill seems to be tucked away on the banks of the Eau Blanche.
Of modest size, its date of construction is uncertain, even if a mill is mentioned on a map in 1770.
Lurking at the bottom of the valley, the miller found the necessary elements here: water and its hydraulic power, accentuated by the valley’s steepness; the proximity of the cultivated land and the village of Vaulx situated on the plateau; construction materials, including wood, which were easily accessible; and finally, the meadows as a source of additional income.
With its imposing roof that plunges almost to the ground, the old masonry seems to sink into the earth.
Although few elements of the old mill are still visible today, the diversion bay and the water reservoir located upstream of the bridge are the main witnesses.
