On the foundations of a keep dating from 1616, this pleasant pleasure castle is set in the middle of a richly wooded landscape - privately owned.
Probably built on very old foundations, Sohier castle is organised around an inner courtyard delimited by four limestone wings.
Three towers punctuate the ensemble: two cylindrical towers and a powerful square tower, transformed from a keep in 1616.
Once surrounded by a moat, the building lost its defensive character and adopted the appearance of a pleasure castle following the 1866 alterations.
Further alterations took place in the 20th century.
Isolated from the village, the building is surrounded by a richly planted park with some fifteen remarkable trees listed in the Belgian dendrological inventory. Such a concentration, on a rather limited surface, is an exception.
The castle and its park cannot be visited.
