Wibin-Gillard castle farm - My

In the extension of the avenue of plane trees leading to the village, this monumental 18th and 19th century ensemble develops, over 100m long and 40m wide, a quadrilateral castle to which a square farm is attached.

A residence is mentioned as early as 1112. Overlooking the succession of ponds in the valley and surrounded by good land, the situation is ideal for the establishment of a defensive building and a farm.

Extended and altered over the centuries, the building was transformed in the 18th century in the manner of an Italian palace, with its neoclassical façade generously opening onto a terrace overlooking a lake and a landscaped garden. The splendour of the residence seems to have culminated in the 19th century with the intervention, in 1882, of G. Serrurier-Bovy, a world-renowned cabinetmaker.

At the rear, a neo-Gothic tower-porch gives access to the main courtyard. At the time, the castle was accessed from the south-west by an imposing driveway running alongside a vegetable garden and a succession of water features. All that remains today of these facilities are part of the ponds and the wooded foliage.

The castle is privately owned and cannot be visited.
