Montignies-sur-Roc Castle
A castle developed from a late 17th century building and planted in an enclosed garden.
A castle developed from a late 17th century building and planted in an enclosed garden.
In a vast walled property, this classical-style castle is the result of the improvements and extensions made between 1822 and 1847 by Virginie du Chastel de la Howardries to the original building from the end of the 17th century.
The remarkably wooded park is organised into several areas, vegetable garden, orchard, flowerbeds, bower and quincunxes opening up multiple perspectives on the residence. An ice house, currently converted into a cave, completes the ensemble.
The castle is the property of the Baron de la Motte Baraffe and cannot be visited.
