Washhouses and watering places in Laforêt

Built at one end of the village, these small listed buildings illustrate the three functions linked to water in rural life in the past: the covered washhouse, built of schistose sandstone at the beginning of the 20th century, allowed the village women to wash their clothes sheltered from the weather.
Inside, the tub has wide sloping edges for beating the laundry. Next to it, the cattle and herds quenched their thirst in a circular blue stone trough. Finally, a small fountain for the community is located under a 19th century building.
Another listed ensemble, consisting of a circular drinking trough and a washtub from the same period, adorns the top of the village.
