Practical information

About the work
The “Sosoye water of life”, imagined and created by the artist Norska, has just found its place in the heart of the village of Sosoye!
Water as a constituent element
Water, in reference to the Molignée river, is the unifying element proposed for the creation of this contemporary work.
The old railway bridge
In the heart of the beautiful village of Sosoye, the old railway bridge, now used by the ravel and the famous Molignée draisines, was chosen as the site for the work. More precisely, the limestone wall serves as a support for the work, one magnifying the other.

Recently completed, the work will soon be completed with an explanatory panel and fittings.
The marriage of stone and bronze
In Sosoye, limestone is omnipresent and constitutes the existing architecture and traditional buildings. It is also widely present in the Ranzinelle mountain, which marks the village landscape with its singular silhouette.

The material chosen for the work of art is bronze, a noble material, a bit sinuous, which makes the stone, its backdrop, dance and shine.

Congratulations to Norska, alias Alexandre Rossignon, for his work!

About the art circuit
At the initiative of the Asbl “Les Plus Beaux Villages de Wallonie” and in collaboration with the communes mentioned below, the project “Six steps towards Art between Samson and Lesse”, aims to create, in the long term, a “Parcours d’Art”, a sort of thematic circuit between 6 labelled villages:

With contemporary art as the main theme, this circuit will network these 6 Beautiful Villages, “ambassadors” of a whole region, and will allow, by car, by bike, or, why not, on foot, the discovery of works of art as well as the richness of the village heritage!
Why “Six steps towards art between Samson and Lesse”?
A step is an entrance, a passage, but also a movement, a step, a footprint, a footprint that we want to leave in each village so that this tour is both tourist and cultural.

The step is a meeting between the tradition of our villages and the cultural approach of contemporary art.
“Art is a step from nature to infinity” -Khalil Gibran
The Samson and the Lesse, tributary rivers of the right bank of the Meuse, lick the edges of these 6 Beautiful Villages and will lull the visitors with their gentle meanders.
The works
The contemporary works refer to the very character and essence of the village in which they are located.

Based on the theme of the environment, they are made from natural materials: wood, stone, earth, metal, etc.
The circuit
In 2009, the beautiful village of Celles (Houyet) was given the work “Chemin de Croix de Celles”, created by the artist Pierre Courtois.

At the beginning of 2022, and after an interruption in the artistic process due to the health context, the villages of Sosoye and Falaën will be adorned with their work.
