Raymond Mayné Nature Reserve

This natural site extends on the "bajocian cuesta", a long ridge surmounting the village. Named after a passioned naturalist, the reserve is one of Belgium's first.

The stones Torgny was built from were extracted here: this human intervention created specific environmental conditions. The warm, dry and shalow soils favor the developpement of diverse species.  The presence of Spider Orchids, mountain cicadas, praying mantises reenforce the reserve's exceptionnal nature.
