Château de Montquintin – Exceptional heritage of Wallonia
In the very far south of beautiful Gaume, at the exact place where Belgium and France meet in the depths of the vast valleys, Château de Montquintin, surrounded by its hamlet, contemplates the scenery.
Amidst the cuestas, the hamlet of Montquintin sits on a hillock, a geological remnant, away from the main roads: like Tourtour in Provence or the Butte de Mousson, the winds and waters have gradually shaped the hillside, and from its position on the promontory, the "hamlet in the sky" overlooks the courses of the Vire, Ton, Chevratte and Chiers. The eye can see as far as Arlon to the east and towards Montmédy to the south.
Recorded as long ago as the 12th century and even around at the time of the Argenfontaine Roman villa, the tiny area of Montquintin is home to some of the richest historical monuments in the region, all of which are listed as a Site of Exceptional Heritage in Wallonia.
The château grounds can be hired for outside events.
